Loyola College Chennai

Loyola College has been inexistence since July 1925 and since then has been known to be one of the institutions offering quality education in India. The college is catholic run and lies on a 96 acre plot in the urban area of Chennai in the Tamil Nadu state. The college became an autonomous (award their own qualification) college in 1978 but it is affiliated with the University of Madras. The college has a student body of over 10,000 students.

Courses Offered

Loyola College offers quite a number of course which means the student has a wide range to choose from. They offer Undergraduate Programs, Post Graduate Programs, Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) courses and PhD’s etc. The courses are offered through their various departments.

Under Graduate programs/ courses are 13 which are in the fields of science and arts. In arts courses offered are Bachelor of Arts in Economics, French, History and Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce in commerce and Corporate and Secretary Ship. In science courses offered are Bachelor of Science Mathematics, Chemistry, Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, Physics, Plant Biology and Biotechnology, Statistics and Visual Communication.

For the Post graduate program the courses offered are still in the arts and sciences fields. In the arts field there is Master of Arts in History, Media Arts, Philosophy and Social Work and in the sciences field there is Master of Science in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Food Chemistry and Food Processing, Medical Lab Technology, Medical Sociology, and Visual Communication.

The M.Phil and PhD courses on offer are Economics, English, Social Work, Commerce, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Entomology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology.

Amenities

One of the social amenities found on the school grounds are the hostels that are run by the School of Jesuits. In the hostels you will find accommodation and a mess where you will partake of your meals. The rules set have to be followed at all times in the hostel.

The school also boasts of a well stocked Library with a total of 1,020,000 books which are one the different courses taught in the college. The library also has journal on various fields plus computer which are networked for the purposes of students’ research.

Other amenities are the Campus ministry, Gymnasium, Health center, Canteen and many more.
